[edit]

I'm deleting the protected images that used to be on the main page, and I'm wondering about the status of Image:Aug11 01.jpg. It looks like you might have restored the image to the English Wikipedia after it was deleted, so I left it alone. Please delete it from the English Wikipedia if it needs to be deleted. Jaguar Mark VII

[edit]

Dear Evil Monkey

I was thinking to kick off an article in English language wiki on the Jaguar Mark VII which was a heavy sports sedan, redolant of its period, launched in England in at the London Motor Show (which I think means October) in 1950. I saw a message that an earlier article on this car was deleted in 2005. As far as I can make out, it was deleted because the only thing that anyone had bothered to write, was ****. But there is sometimes more to these things than meets the eye. So:

You were involved in the deletion. Do you remember if it was deleted because (1) the subject was deemed inappropriate or (2) because whatever had been written was lousy or (3) something else?

Thanks for any clues you can provide on this. Best wishes Charles01 (talk) 19:36, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow -- must go back to when I was first made an admin. Anyway, looking at what was deleted, there would be no problem starting a new article. It was just deleted because the only edit was nonsense. Evil Monkey - Hello 22:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

JEFF BERWICK INFORMATION/BIRTHDATE

[edit]

I have recieved comments on "my deliberate addition of infactual information" on Jeff Berwick - more specifically his birthdate... originally showing 1975 - actual would be 1970.

You are looking for factual information.. unfortunately I cannot provide any writings as "proof" but alas, the saying "50% of what you read is false, the othe 50% is just not true" applies here...

1) On "gradbook" he is listed as graduating in 1988 2) I was a schoolmate who also graduated in 1988 - same school (Paul Kane High - St albert, alberta). And were pretty decent friends from grades 7 thru 9. 3) I played organized hockey with him - we were on the same team for a year arouund 1983/84. Based on Hockey being an age/group sport he HAS to be within my agegroup. Otherwise He would have been 9 playing with 14/15 year olds. (note: he would have been a 13 year old high school graduate - that would be remembered by all of us grads in 1988 - if it were true.) 4) His younger brother was the only survivor of 3 in a tragic car accident in 1989 on the way to West Edmonton Mall. it was his younger brother's graduating year.

simple math here...

Thanks

What a cool cat! Yes to Queen, no to Pink Floyd (except for Learning to Fly), sorry. I am told you have skill with the Burmese font and upload graphics in it. May I prevail upon you for help? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 18:07, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your quick response! What I need is asinthint, the Scout Motto: "Ever Ready" or "Always Prepared". The characters are kind of small and grainy at Image:WAGGGS-Burma Girl Guides badge.jpg, but with your knowledge you should be able to pick them out. Thanks once again! List of Florida State University alumni

[edit]

Hello, Evil Monkey. I recently ran across the FSU alumni article and noticed the many un-documented entries. Since the talk page had nothing on it, I attempted to start a discussion of the perceived problem, but only got feedback from one other user, who felt the article was fine.

I just reviewed the history of the talk page, though, and found a previous discussion of the topic, which had been deleted (by the same user who was happy with the article).

I've now replaced the earlier discussion, and added a tag to the article. Perhaps you would like to check it out for possible further discussion or improvements. Tim Ross (talk) 21:53, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:UoC coat of arms.PNG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:UoC coat of arms.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template

[edit]

In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.
You currently have {{NoMultiLicense}} on your user or user talk page, which states that your edits are licensed under the GFDL only. On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. If you accept the licensing change, you do not need to do anything (and feel free to remove this message); if you do not accept it, we regret that you will no longer be able to contribute to the encyclopedia. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#NoMultiLicense template if you have any comments.

[edit]

File:JimLovell.jpeg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:James Lovell.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:James Lovell.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. The article Peter Friederich has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Diplomat engaged in money laundering - not notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AfD nomination of Joe Francis

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Joe Francis. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joe Francis. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Kwangmyongsong.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kwangmyongsong.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. File source problem with File:USS South Carolina CGN-37.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:USS South Carolina CGN-37.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:21, 8 December 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:21, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Undergrads for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Undergrads is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Undergrads until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Alpha Quadrant talk 02:33, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.
