Lead sentence
[edit]What does this sentence actually mean?
Moreover, the dominance of chaebols, which has also been seen by many South Koreans as highly corrupt and influential in the political system, is unlikely to last and engenders risk of slowing down the transformation of the South Korean economy for the benefit of future generations.
From what I gather, it's saying:
The reduction of of corrupt chaebol influence creates a dangerous risk that will slow the economy, which will benefit future generations.
I have glanced through the three PDF sources (by ctrl-f chaebol) and all three claims the chaebols remains a very significant factor in the South Korea economy, with the government seeking to rein them in but allowing them to operate within limits.
The only statement remotely close to "unlikely to last" is about Park's campaigning to reduce reliance on them during an election, which was also not successful. (BTI 2016 South Korea Country Report, pg 2-3) I cannot find a reference that would make sense of "engenders risk of slowing down the transformation of the South Korean economy for the benefit of future generations". Question about PPP
[edit]So it says that the GDP per capita rank is 24th, and the nominal is 26th. However, this seems inaccurate as South Korea's GDP per capita PPP on this page doesn't match with what says on the list of countries by GDP PPP per capita list. Jishiboka1 (talk) 04:13, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Is it true that Bloomberg ranked South Korea as the 47th likely country to suffer an economic default?
[edit]I can’t post an article because I’m on a phone, but basically what happened was that Bloomberg posted an article that showed some sort of table that has been interpreted as the table of 50 countries that are most likely to suffer an economic default. On there, El Salvador was ranked at No. 1 while South Korea was ranked at 47.
Is this actually true? Or is there some sort of misunderstanding going on here? 117.111.22.168 (talk) 01:21, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Economic indicators for future years
[edit]The article lists economic indicators for 2025-2027... isn't this in contradiction to WP:FUTURE? -- Seelefant (talk) 20:36, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
